www.visitmurciagolf.com - The Paul Carpenter Golf Academy
At www.visitmurciagolf.com we are delighted to announce the launch of the Paul Carpenter Golf Academy. Paul is the new Director of Golf for the business. Paul’s aim is to provide the highest teaching and learning experience through a mixture of outdoor and indoor facilities. All levels of golfer will be catered for. Kids, serious competitive golfers and those in between will have access to all aspects of game improvement.
Here’s what Paul has to say
“It has always been my passion to become a professional footballer but when that door closed in 1998 I was introduced to golf. I soon realised that my new love was being a professional golf instructor. Since that day I have concentrated on building a wide knowledge on all aspects of teaching. I now have vast experience but continue to develop and learn new skills in order to enhance my teaching methods.
I started my career at the Gleneagles Hotel and spent 6 successful years there during which time I received many accolades. I graduated in 2003 as a fully qualified professional. I was involved in the successful bid for the 2014 Ryder Cup and became a technical advisor for Sport Scotland, aiding access for children of all ages in Perthshire the opportunity to participate in golf.
I was promoted to the Head Teaching Professional at Gleneagles and coached many players of all abilities that included the Perth & Kinross County Team and current Tour Professionals. I continued to develop my golfing career by securing a position as teaching professional at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. I also spent 2 years at the Berkshire Golf club before returning to Scotland to become the Senior Professional at Royal Troon Golf Club.
I established and developed a highly successful teaching programme at Royal Troon which included junior coaching, ladies coaching, golf clinics, group lessons and individual lessons to all members and visitors. I continued that but through Director of Golf at Map Golf and Leisure. I now want to expand that experience within and beyond Scotland and I have identified an opportunity to offer a genuine all the year round teaching facility by establishing a golf academy in Murcia, Spain. The long term business plan has identified that area to be the best location for main headquarters.
From that base I will be able to operate an academy offering indoor facilities covering all aspects of golf. We will be able to customise all needs of the clients, from individuals to groups. We will handle all parts of the trip from golf teaching to playing, accommodation and introduce everybody to the wonderful variety of things to do in the area. There are genuinely 315 days of sunshine here for people to enjoy while getting access to streamlined facilities. Any parties can bring their coaching staff too. They will have access to all that is on offer and all sections of their trip organised for them.
The team at the academy will provide indoor and outdoor teaching, short game specialist training, private or group teaching and high-tech video analysis. In addition they will also provide golf fitness programmes, sports injury treatment, dietary advice and sports pyschology regimes. The facilities will benefit individuals and groups. Importantly young golfers will be nurtured in all aspects of the game including etiquette and the basics.
While everyone should work at improving their game ther is always room for fun too. We will be organising social nights playing famous holes, long driving contests and much more.
This venture is an exciting opportunity for me and my clients old and new. While I will retain a link with Scotland the thrust of the business will be here in Murcia. Why Murcia? The weather, the abundance of top class courses, fantastic activities away from golf and the top of the range outdoor and indoor facilities make this one of Europe’s most attractive areas. It’s unique, a somewhat hidden gem easily accessible from all parts of Europe via the 2 airports of Alicante and San Javier. Having analysed several places for my base I am now comfortable I have it right and look forward to passing on my teaching experience through first class facilities.”

I recently visited Murcia and was hosted by the very Professional team at Visit Murcia Golf. The accommodation was superb, the golf course at El Valle was magnificent and the weather was brilliant! I even booked a lesson with Paul and learnt new skills both at the course and on the practice range. Thank you for making my visit so memorable, I look forward to seeing you again soon for a return golfing break! James.
